District Showcase Award
Your team works hard and we want to hear about it. Nominate your District for this District Showcase Award so we can help you tell your story and share your successes. This award highlights the successes of up to four local Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs). The winners will be recognized at the Annual Conference of Indiana SWCDs' Conservation Award Banquet.  Guidelines here . Nominations due July 31, 2018.

Stewardship Week and Theme Announced
The NACD Stewardship and Education Committee is pleased to announce the 2019 Poster Contest and Stewardship Week theme: “Life in the Soil: Dig Deeper.” Rules, entry forms and other resources for the 2019 NACD Poster Contest will be available for download on the  2019 Stewardship Week page  later this summer. The 64th Annual Stewardship Week will take place April 28 – May 5, 2019.
NACD’s Take: The 2018 Senate Farm Bill

On Friday, June 8, the Senate Ag Committee released its 2018 Farm Bill (S. 3042), and the legislation passed out of committee on Wednesday, June 13. NACD staff have been busy analyzing the bill to see how our priorities fared. Jordan Seger named Deputy Director of State’s Agriculture Department
INDIANAPOLIS (July 2, 2018)  – Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch announced today that Jordan Seger has been appointed deputy director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture ( ISDA ). Seger has been with the department since 2011 and previously served as Division of Soil Conservation director.
“We are pleased to name Jordan deputy director of our state’s department of agriculture,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. “His vast knowledge and expertise, coupled with a lifelong devotion to agriculture, will serve this department, the industry and our state well.” Read more ...
Clean Water Indiana
The Clean Water Indiana (CWI) Grant Program (IC 14-32-8-5) utilizes the Clean Water Indiana Fund to Support Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) in efforts to improve water quality by reducing sediment and nutrients from nonpoint sources. The State Soil Conservation Board (SSCB) is accepting competitive proposals for targeted projects up to three years in length. Application deadline is September 14, 2018. Read more ...
