We are in for a very tough year now that Richmond is under full Liberal (i.e. Democrat) control. The challenge to push against the liberal tide can feel overwhelming and insurmountable. I get that. I had the privilege of communicating with several COLF members over the last few weeks. Now that Gov. Spanberger is showing her true far-left liberal colors, anxieties and frustrations are rearing their heads. We live in a state that has been blue since 2008. Don't ask me how we fell to Obama that year, but we have not been able to get our state back since then, other than the 4-year reprieve with Gov. Youngkin. That said, there is no guarantee the liberals can keep it (I think we can stop calling them Democrats now).
So, what can we do? Move to a red state? Yes, that is an option. However, I shared the sentiment that we can't chase politics, because no state is guaranteed to stay red or blue. Texas was a Democrat state for over 100 years-until the 1980's. It was solidly red, and now it's a purple state, and has a chance of reverting back to blue if they aren't diligent at fighting the liberal policies. Every city in Texas is very liberal and holds a big voting block. On the flip side, Virginia was a Republican held state from the 1950's until 2008, when the state went for Obama. Nothing is set in stone, so don't give up hope or stop efforts to fight the liberals at every turn.
My overriding concern for VA, our county, and our Lake Frederick community, is that we'll see the Republicans say "why bother" to fight against the liberal tide, or not even vote. Our state would be assured of staying liberal for generations if that happens. We are in the stage of our lives where we can ride the waves. However, it's up to us to push for a more secure future for our kids and grandkids.
What we HAVE to do is stay informed, be engaged, and actively get people to the polls for the upcoming special election. You can vote in person, or sign up for absentee ballots. Whatever you do, VOTE!
The liberals are going to be coming out in droves to get the proposed redistricting amendment passed on April 21st for the special election. We have to counter this with our votes to keep this amendment out of the VA Constitution. See information on the proposed amendments and bill bills further in the newsletter.
Despite the rampant evil in our world today, I have faith that God has a plan in His great design and we will be alright in the end. When I keep my eyes on Him, it is easier to fight against our political "leaders" and their destructive plans for our state.
