From the Chair
Rhonda Torres
We saw highs and lows in 2025. Beginning in January with President Trump's inauguration, to standing up against a huge data center in our county in June (and winning the fight), to making calls and writing emails to our Senators in Washington and our BOS in October, and then to our loss in the polls in November. Though it all, the Conservatives of Lake Frederick worked as a cohesive team. Thank you.
Our group had wonderful, engaging gatherings that warmed my soul. Some of our highlights were the St. Patrick's Day Party, the Summer Picnic, and our Christmas Open House. Don't forget to check out the Photo Gallery (see link at the top of this newsletter).
The upcoming year is going to be a challenging one. Our U.S. Representative, Ben Cline and our U.S. Senator, Mark Warner, are up for re-election this year. We need to work hard to get Ben Cline re-elected, and work even harder to get Mark Warner booted out of office. There was one person who was going to run against Warner, but he withdrew on December 28th. The 2026 ballot will also contain Virginia Constitution Amendments (full-term abortions, same sex marriage, automatically restoring rights to convicted felons, re-districting, and more) that we will need to vote against.
When I was looking for a quote for the newsletter, I felt that Jonathon Edwards' quote above is so appropriate for the coming year. Our inclinations when facing political uphill battles may be to throw up our hands and say, "why bother." However, we were not promised an easy, clear pathway in any aspect of our lives. We all want to leave this world a better place for our children and grandchildren. Yes, we have "just" passed the prime of our lives, but that doesn't mean we are done working to make this world a better place.
Happy New Year!
Be a bold and proud
Conservative of Lake Frederick!
