Department Highlight: Theater Arts!

We are just two weeks away from this year’s all-school musical, Aladdin Jr! Almost 100 students from kindergarten to 12th grade have teamed up, creating magic through singing, dancing, tech, acting, set design, and more to bring this classic tale to life.

After two months of rehearsals, our cast is ready to take the stage, show off their talents, and grant the audience a whole new world of entertainment (no lamp rubbing required).

Just like last year, seats disappeared faster than a magic carpet at sunset and all three shows are officially sold out! If you would like to purchase VCS Aladdin Jr. merch, made by our very own cast members, Charlie and Wesley, you can find them here: https://our.show/vcsaladdin

Trust us, this show will be worth more than all the gold in the Cave of Wonders

Hello Falcon Radio Fans!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! As the semester starts, I have been reflecting on some of the benefits students take advantage of while in Radio Broadcasting and working with KVCB. I originally settled on three main benefits: critical thinking, Christ-based programming, and learning to emphasize the audience.

First, students develop critical thinking skills - in radio broadcasting, technical problems can happen without notice! They learn that they always have to have a Plan B.

Second, having Christ-based segments emphasizes the role of faith in our programming. KVCB has increased the percentage of Christian Contemporary music we play, in addition to Morning Devotion segments where students discuss Bible verses on air.

Third, being an audience-centered show teaches students how to appeal to different demographics. They learn to be people centered and not self centered.

As we enter the New Year, our classes will have some new features: we will enter the John Drury High School National Radio Contest hosted by North Central College in Naperville, IL! We will enter five categories including Radio Drama.

Our Morning Shows continue at 9:35 and 11:30 am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. We will also do some remote broadcasts, so stay tuned!
