Department Highlight: Chapel Leadership!

Our Chapel Leadership class has been actively growing in their understanding and practice of worship expression, exploring what it means to lead with authenticity, humility, and purpose. Students have been preparing diligently for an upcoming worship night, collaborating on music, refining their skills, and thinking intentionally about how to create a meaningful experience for our community.

Throughout the process, they’ve been learning the importance of both musical excellence and spiritual leadership. In addition to their own preparation, these students have been serving faithfully by supporting various VCS events with live worship, bringing energy and heart to each opportunity. We are excited to see how this group continues to develop as leaders and contributors to the spiritual life of our school.

Hello Falcon Radio Fans!

As the semester continues, I have been reflecting on some of the benefits students take advantage of while in Radio Broadcasting and working with KVCB. I finally settled on three main benefits: critical thinking, Christ-based programming, and learning to emphasize the audience.

First, students develop critical thinking skills - in radio broadcasting, technical problems can happen without notice! They learn that they always have to have a Plan B.

Second, having Christ-based segments emphasizes the role of faith in our programming. KVCB has increased the percentage of Christian Contemporary music we play, in addition to Morning Devotion segments where students discuss Bible verses on air.

Third, being an audience-centered show teaches students how to appeal to different demographics. They learn to be people centered and not self centered.

As we enter the New Year, our classes will have some new features: we will enter the John Drury High School National Radio Contest hosted by North Central College in Naperville, IL! We will enter five categories including Radio Drama.

Our Morning Shows continue at 9:35 and 11:30 am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. We will also do some remote broadcasts, so stay tuned!
