Department Highlight: Band!

This Tuesday, 5/5, we hope you will join us for an inspiring evening of music as our 3rd–9th grade band and choir students present Wonder! This thoughtfully curated concert explores storytelling across every stage of life, celebrating the moments that shape us and the connections that bring us together. Through a variety of musical styles and voices, our students invite you into a world filled with curiosity, imagination, and belonging.

This performance highlights not only the growth of our young musicians, but also the vibrant community they help create. Each piece reflects the theme of wonder—embracing new experiences, making space for every voice to be heard. From beginning performers to more advanced ensembles, the concert showcases the dedication, creativity, and heart of our students.

As we close the 2026 school year, we warmly invite you to join us in celebrating their hard work and the stories they have learned to tell through music. We look forward to sharing this meaningful evening with you.

Hello Falcon Radio Fans!

As the semester continues, I have been reflecting on some of the benefits students take advantage of while in Radio Broadcasting and working with KVCB. I finally settled on three main benefits: critical thinking, Christ-based programming, and learning to emphasize the audience.

First, students develop critical thinking skills - in radio broadcasting, technical problems can happen without notice! They learn that they always have to have a Plan B.

Second, having Christ-based segments emphasizes the role of faith in our programming. KVCB has increased the percentage of Christian Contemporary music we play, in addition to Morning Devotion segments where students discuss Bible verses on air.

Third, being an audience-centered show teaches students how to appeal to different demographics. They learn to be people centered and not self centered.

As we enter the New Year, our classes will have some new features: we will enter the John Drury High School National Radio Contest hosted by North Central College in Naperville, IL! We will enter five categories including Radio Drama.

Our Morning Shows continue at 9:35 and 11:30 am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. We will also do some remote broadcasts, so stay tuned!
