Channeling is more common than we may think.

More and more spiritual guidance seems to be coming from "channeled material" these days as the Age of Aquarius signals the raising of the earth's vibration. However, as early as the 1960s we have well-known books that were created from channeled information.

Channeling happens when a person, often in a trance state, is able to raise his or her vibration in order to receive information from the nonphysical realm. A scribe is often a friend or relative who records the the channeler's words, or the information can sometimes come in the form of automatic writing.

Some of these earlier channeled works may be familiar to you.

Some Well-Known Books That Were Channeled

A Course in Miracles by Helen Schucman

A Course in Miracles is perhaps the best known channeled book, which has been translated into more than 25 languages. Dr. Helen Schucman received the information for the Text, Workbook, and Manual for Teachers through a series of transmissions over seven years, beginning in 1976. Her scribe was Dr. William Thetford, a colleague in the Psychology Department at Columbia University.

A Course in Miracles teaches about universal love, peace, and forgiveness. The workbook is a 365 day by day manual for personal learning. The narrator of the information occasionally comes through as the voice of Jesus Christ, while at other times it has the tone of an enlightened guide.

Ask And It Is Given By Abraham Hicks

Abraham is channeled by Esther Hicks who has been one of the world’s most recognized channels since 1987. Abraham is described as a group of "nonphysical entities."

Ask And It Is Given, 2004, was the first of many Abraham books based on information channeled by Hicks. In it, Abraham describes strategies for such concepts as using the power of our thoughts to create reality (Law of Attraction) and using our "feelings" as our "emotional guidance system."

Seth Speaks and the series of Seth books

The content of Seth Speaks and related Seth material was channeled by Jane Roberts from the mid 1960s to the early 1980s, with her husband as her scribe. The source of the information was claimed by Roberts to be a "discarnate entity."

The Seth Books have become classic reading in New Age spirituality and higher consciousness studies, describing a personal philosophy of life, the ability of our thoughts to create reality, and the theory of Oneness of which we are all a part.

Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch

Neale Donald Walsch has written a number of international best-sellers, but his most popular book was his channeled work, Conversations with God, the first of a trilogy.

Walsch says that one day, in frustration, he wrote an angry letter to God, asking for answers. To his surprise, God responded.

Walsch received answers to his questions through automatic writing. Conversations with God, Books 1, 2, and 3 are the channeled results with new insights on traditional Christian themes, such as why we are here, what God expects of us, and "our way is not a better way, merely another way."
