19-20 Consortium Allocations Now in NOVA
California Adult Education Program logo
All CAEP members can now go into NOVA and see the consortium-level
19-20 allocations. Each consortium and its members are required to certify the CFAD by May 2, 2019 . For more information, please see the 19-20 allocation letter released last month.

CFAD Webinar

We'll host a webinar titled CFAD Submissions and More! on April 5 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Neil Kelly and NOVA experts will walk you through the CFAD submission process in NOVA. They also will review the public meeting requirements per the California Adult Education Program education code (and Brown Act). Find out the difference between the CFAD certification and an allocation amendment. Understand the use of spending target percentages in NOVA to forecast your members' spending - and how this may affect the close-out of 17-18 funds.

If you like numbers, dollars and common sense, this webinar is for you!

Comparison Views Coming Soon!

Data showing the number and percentage of students in ABE, ASE or ESL programs transitioning to postsecondary education programs will be available later this month in the Transition view of the LaunchBoard Adult Education Pipeline . This metric includes a summary count and percentage of all ABE/ASE/ESL students who transitioned to postsecondary education with the ability to drill down by program area or demographics to see the different rates at which students are transitioning.

Also in late March, be on the lookout for a new comparison view function that will allow you to compare your institution or consortium data to other institutions or consortia, your region or statewide data. This will make it simpler for providers to understand how they are performing against other programs or against regional or statewide indicators.
Coming in 2020: PIAAC Small-Area Estimates
Since 2013, the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) has published a large volume of official statistics about the proficiency of adults in the United States.

The published statistics are mainly for the nation and for major subgroups. However, policymakers, business leaders, and educators/researchers often need information about adults’ skills and knowledge in smaller geographic areas, such as states or counties.

To address this need, PIAAC will use advanced statistical modeling approaches to produce literacy and numeracy estimates for all states and counties in the United States. A visualization-based website will be launched in spring 2020 that will allow users to access small-area estimates through heat maps and summary card displays. This user-friendly website will provide precision estimates and facilitate statistical comparisons among counties and states.

For more information about PIAAC, please visit this PIAAC webpage .
