I t's All About You!!!
Many constituents already understand this about me: I'm here for you. I go to Jackson for you. I do what I do as a State Representative for you. With that being said, I’m always grateful for your input, questions, and comments on issues important to House District 29. However, I do my job better when I hear from you, so please contact me when you want to share with me your thoughts and perspective on what we can do to improve House District 29.

100% Response Rate
During my time in the Mississippi Legislature, I've responded to everyone who has reached out to me. I value communication with you. You can ask anyone who has "individually" contacted me (via email, text, or social media) and they will tell you they have received a reply. I take being your State Representative seriously and want to make sure I'm representing you well. A large part of that is knowing “you”. If I haven't heard from you yet, I look forward to hearing from you.

Upcoming events
Is there is an upcoming event you want me to attend? Let me know and I will do my best to be there. I enjoy having the chance to connect with members of the various communities within House District 29 and getting updates on both the high-points and challenges going on in our communities. I hope to see you at an event in the near future!
Teacher Shortage,What
are We Doing?

My parents are retired educators. My wife is an educator. My daughter is just at the start of her educational journey. One of the most important things in the life of a child, such as my daughter, is their teachers. For students in House District 29, good teachers do so much. Teachers open up hearts, minds, and souls. Teachers bring students on journeys that expand the imagination and provide possibilities of what has been, is, and could be. Teachers are a daily example of care, concern, love, inspiration, and so much more. For me, everyday is teacher appreciation day. Everyday, I am fighting to give additional support to current educators and doing what I can to fill teacher vacancies with people who want what's best for our children.

***I support both fully funding the Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP) and substantially increasing average teacher salaries. Our educators deserve it!!!

***Though we must adjust for cost of living, there's a $40,000 difference between what the average teacher in New York makes, and what the average teacher in Mississippi makes. The gap should not be that big. And before anybody says, "Abe move to New York," I am merely making an example to show that we can do better. Click Here to read article

 Share Your Positive Stories

As was mentioned above, I want to hear from you. I know there are challenges in our communities and I'm fighting right there with you to improve those areas. However, I especially want to lift up positive stories happening in our district. Too many negative perceptions exist about the Mississippi Delta, and many simply aren't true. We have people throughout Bolivar and Sunflower Counties doing everything they can to improve their lives, take care of their families, and do good in their community. This is what I see in most cases in our area. I believe that spirit can be the catalyst for something pure and amazing. I ask you to show everyone your belief in this too and help inspire our communities.

Small Towns Matter

Every town matters. Why? Because every person matters. I represent everyone in House District 29, whether you are in the east, north, west, south part of the district; whether you're young or have gracefully advanced in years; whether you're in Sunflower Plantation, Cleveland, Benoit, Beulah, Gunnison, Pace, Symonds, Rosedale, Renova, Merigold, Mound Bayou, Winstonville, or, where I dwell, Shelby. ....we are all part of the Mississippi Delta and also House District 29. By supporting one another, we can build a brighter future for us all. For me as your State Representative, that means visiting all the communities I represent and listening to all of your dreams for the future. This includes discovering what you need to thrive and understanding what good things are happening so that we can duplicate the acts. We have some work to do, but I "Ain't" ready to give up on the Mississippi Delta yet.
