WHAT:

Crews are expected to perform pavement grinding along the inside lanes on northbound (NB) SR-55 between I-405 and I-5, which will require closing up to three inside lanes as well as the NB SR-55 to NB I-5 carpool connector. The general purpose connector from NB SR-55 to NB I-5 will remain open.



WHEN:

9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Monday, Oct. 19 through Friday, Oct. 23 (into Saturday morning).

WHAT:

An extended closure is underway of the southbound (SB) SR-55 Dyer Road loop off-ramp as well as the inside lane on the SB Dyer Road on-ramp. Crews are working to reconstruct the ramp.



WHEN:

The off-ramp closed on Tuesday, Oct. 13 and is expected to reopen to motorists by 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23.

WHAT:

Crews are preparing to begin work to reconstruct the center median of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5, for the addition of a new carpool (HOV) lane. This will require nighttime closures to restripe northbound (NB) SR-55 to shift traffic towards the newly paved outside lanes of the freeway.

As part of the traffic shift, the NB McFadden Avenue on-ramp will be permanently restriped to eliminate weaving and merging conflicts on NB SR-55. Once the new configuration is in place, the McFadden on-ramp will provide access to NB I-5 only.

WHEN:

Crews are expected to begin restriping the freeway and setting concrete barriers for the traffic shift as early as the week of October 26. Additional information will be provided in future communications.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
