Crews are in the process of reconstructing the southbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard off-ramp, which requires an extended closure of the ramp. The off-ramp is expected to reopen to motorists by 5 a.m., Friday, Sept. 19.

The project will be adding a new regular lane in each direction of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. Behind the k-rail, crews have been constructing a new general purpose lane to make your drive smoother when the project is completed in 2027. Construction activities include grading and excavation, base installation, asphalt paving, and compaction.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
