WHAT:

Crews are expected to perform paving work at the northbound SR-55 McFadden Avenue off-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the ramp.

WHEN:

The off-ramp is expected to close as soon as 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 19 and reopen to motorists by 5 a.m., Monday, Dec. 22. 

This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Since demolition in 2023, contractors are making significant progress reconstructing the Edinger Avenue bridge. Crews are currently building the bridge deck and are expected to construct the backwalls next.

Next week, crews are expected to pour concrete for the new bridge deck. This work will require closing eastbound and westbound Edinger underneath the freeway from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Monday, Dec. 15 through Friday,

Dec. 19.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
