Crews are expected to complete barrier demolition activities at the Dyer Road bridge tonight, Friday, Jan. 10. In addition to remaining barrier demolition, they also plan to perform cleanup activities. The following closures will be needed to complete this work:

• Eastbound and westbound Dyer under the freeway
• Northbound SR-55 Dyer loop on-ramp
• Two outside lanes on northbound SR-55 at Dyer

We appreciate the public’s patience while contractors complete this work.

WHAT:

Crews plan to reconstruct the curb and gutter and resurface the northbound lane of Ritchey Street, between Lyon Street and St. Andrew Place. This work will require an extended closure of northbound Ritchey. During this extended closure, Ritchey will remain open to southbound traffic only.

Access for businesses will remain open at all times; motorists will be directed to enter and exit driveways from southbound Ritchey.

This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

WHEN:

The northbound lane on Ritchey will close to traffic beginning as early as 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13 and is expected to reopen to motorists on Friday, Jan. 24. 

WHAT:

Crews are expected to install shoring plates for the foundation of the railroad bridge, along the east side of the SR-55 freeway. Crews will use a method known as CIDH or cast in drilled hole to drill the shoring system into place. Contractors will access the area via the southbound SR-55 McFadden Avenue on-ramp and will travel underneath the railroad bridge to reach the worksite.

You may hear general noise and backup alarms from construction vehicles, as well as notice some vibration from construction equipment.

WHEN:

This work is expected to take place from 10 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10 to 5 a.m., Monday,

Jan. 13.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
