Dyer Road Bridge Girder Installation

Nightly Closures Starting Monday, July 28

Bridge reconstruction continues at Dyer Road. Steel bridge girders will be delivered to the site and installed by contractors. These activities will happen at night to minimize impacts to traffic during peak hours and allow crews to safely install the girders.

The northbound SR-55 loop on-ramp and both directions of Dyer Road underneath the freeway will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Monday, July 28 through Friday, Aug. 1.

Lane Channel Reconstruction Progress Update

To accommodate freeway improvements, a 3,139-foot-long Lane Channel was demolished in Spring 2023 and has been under construction since then. The Channel is located along southbound SR-55 and is one of the largest infrastructure improvements as part of this project. Crews are working hard to complete construction of the new Channel from a V to a U-shape configuration by the end of this year. The new shape will increase stormwater capacity in the event of a major rainstorm.

Extended Closures Coming Soon!

Southbound MacArthur Boulevard Loop On-Ramp Extended Closure

Crews are expected to reconstruct the southbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard loop on-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the ramp. Additional information will be provided in future communications.

Northbound Dyer Road Loop On-Ramp 30-Day Closure

Crews are scheduled to perform a long-term closure of the northbound SR-55 Dyer Road loop on-ramp. This closure will allow crews to reconstruct the ramp as well as construct a retaining wall. Additional information will be provided in future communications.

About the Project

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
