WHAT:

Crews will be reconstructing the southbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard straight on-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the ramp.

WHEN:

The on-ramp is expected to close as soon as 9 p.m., Tuesday, July 22 and reopen to motorists by 5 a.m., Friday, August 1.

Bridge reconstruction at Dyer Road, Edinger Avenue and the railroad continues to make progress as crews aim to complete another two bridges before the end of this year.

At the Dyer Road bridge, crews are constructing the bridge bents and preparing for girder installation in late July. Next crews will work on the bridge deck, with bridge completion expected in early 2026.

At the Edinger Avenue bridge, crews are installing temporary bridge supports known as falsework with completion anticipated for late 2025. Remaining construction activities include deck work and constructing the bridge stems.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
