WHAT:

Crews will be performing asphalt paving along the southbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard straight on-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the ramp.

WHEN:

The on-ramp is expected to close as soon as 9 p.m., Thursday, July 10 and reopen to motorists by 5 a.m., Monday, July 14.

In mid-July, crews are expected to perform another extended closure to reconstruct the ramp. Additional information will be provided in future communications.

To accommodate bridge reconstruction activities, Dyer Road and Edinger Avenue underneath the freeway is expected to close in each direction from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Monday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 2.

Crews are continuing to reconstruct the Dyer Road bridge following demolition activities earlier this year. Contractors successfully completed pile driving operations at the four corners of the bridge as well as in the median, a total of approximately 190 piles!

Crews are currently reconstructing the bridge columns and upper part of the bridge, with completion anticipated for early 2026.

In observance of Independence Day, no closures are scheduled from Thursday, July 3 to Sunday, July 6. Construction activities will resume on Monday, July 7.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
