WHAT:

Crews will be paving asphalt along the southbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard straight on-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the ramp. In mid-July, crews are expected to perform another extended closure to reconstruct the ramp. Additional information will be provided in future communications.

WHEN:

The on-ramp is expected to close as soon as 9 p.m., Thursday, July 10 and reopen to motorists by 5 a.m., Monday, July 14.

In observance of Independence Day, no closures are scheduled from Thursday, July 3 to Sunday, July 6. Construction activities will resume on Monday, July 7.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
