Retaining Wall Updates

MacArthur Boulevard

A new retaining wall is being constructed along the MacArthur Boulevard on-ramp to southbound

SR-55. Contractors have removed a majority of the old retaining wall and have successfully poured the foundation for half of the new wall. Work on the new wall is expected to continue through fall 2024.

McFadden Avenue

Construction is underway for the new retaining wall/sound wall along the northbound SR-55 McFadden Avenue off-ramp.

Concrete pours are ongoing at the retaining wall and as early as the week of July 22, contractors are anticipated to resume work to install reinforced concrete also referred to as "piles" for the foundation at the southern end the new retaining wall. Keep Orange County Clean

Crews continue to remove vegetation and weeds along the project corridor, as well as ensure local streets are maintained for pedestrians and motorists.

About the Project

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
