Retaining walls are an important structural component to freeway improvement projects. There are 18 retaining walls of varying sizes being constructed along the corridor with seven already completed.
At this time, crews are focusing on one of the largest retaining walls along northbound SR-55, near Edinger and McFadden Avenue. This wall is approximately 900’ long and 30’ tall. Crews are scheduled to perform weekly concrete pours through mid-August.
Along southbound SR-55, crews are also constructing a new retaining wall along the MacArthur Boulevard
on-ramp to accommodate the freeway improvements. Contractors have removed a majority of the old retaining wall and have successfully poured the foundation for the new wall. Following this activity, crews will continue to form and pour the wall itself through August.
This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.
