Contractors are continuing to excavate and remove the existing drainage box along southbound SR-55 near Ritchey Street. 

This work is happening behind k-rail, and is ongoing weekdays, Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While construction is ongoing, periodic rolling closures will occur throughout the corridor to allow sweeper trains to clean up trash and debris.

These rolling closures help ensure the corridor is kept clean for motorists and will generally occur weekdays, from 9 a.m.

to 3 p.m.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
