Crews are expected to demolish and reconstruct a retaining wall on eastbound (EB) SR-91 beneath the existing bridge and construct an abutment for the new bridge. This work will require a long-term closure of the EB SR-91 loop on-ramp from Lakeview Avenue expected to begin as early as Friday, May 30 for approximately two years.
Motorists traveling southbound (SB) on Lakeview Avenue will be directed to access the eastbound SR-91 using Imperial Highway.
Freeway and Ramp Closures
The following ramp closures are expected to occur for concrete barrier installation as early as 10 p.m., Friday, May 9 to 7 a.m., Saturday, May 10:
Westbound (WB) SR-91 loop on-ramp at Lakeview Avenue
EB SR-91 off-ramp at Imperial Highway
Nighttime lane closures on EB and WB SR-91 will occur regularly throughout construction. At least one lane will be open to traffic at all times, unless otherwise specified.
91 Express Lanes Closures
The following nighttime closures of the 91 Express Lanes will occur between SR-55/Tustin Avenue and the Orange County/Riverside County line to facilitate striping, k-rail placement and overhead sign removal. Drivers will be directed to use the regular lanes and exit or re-enter the 91 Express Lanes at the county line.
The EB SR-91 Express Lanes are anticipated to close as early as 11 p.m. Friday, May 9 to 7 a.m. Saturday, May 10
Sound Wall Activities
The existing sound wall along the WB SR-91 on-ramp at Lakeview Avenue has been demolished. Crews have begun initial steps to reconstruct a new sound wall, which will accommodate a new on-ramp from Lakeview directly to SB SR-55. Sound wall reconstruction will be ongoing for approximately 12 months.
Crews are expected to construct the foundation of the new sound wall along WB SR-91. This work will require the installation of cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles and steel rebar cages, as well as concrete pours. This work is expected to occur 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, beginning as early as Tuesday, May 27 and continuing through early July.
Vegetation Removal
Vegetation removal at the SR-91/Lakeview Avenue interchange is ongoing and expected to continue during the week of May 12. Work is anticipated to take place during daytime hours behind k-rail.
This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.
