Closures and Detours Map

Segment 1: Construction Activities

SR-91 Freeway Closures

Crews are expected to perform the following full directional freeway closures on WB SR-91 between Lakeview Avenue and SR-55/Tustin Avenue to allow crews to demolish portions of the center median, perform striping work and remove overhead signage.


  • WB SR-91 between Lakeview and SR-55/Tustin as early as 10 p.m., Saturday, April 26 to 6 a.m., Sunday April 27.
  • WB SR-91 between Imperial Highway and SR-55/Tustin as early as 10 p.m., Friday, May 2 to 6 a.m., Saturday, May 3.

Nighttime lane closures on EB and WB SR-91 will take place regularly throughout the duration of the project, at least one lane will be open to traffic at all times, unless otherwise specified. Please visit the project Google Map for lane closure information.

91 Express Lanes Closures

The following nighttime closures of the 91 Express Lanes will occur between SR-55/Tustin Avenue and the Orange County/Riverside County line to facilitate striping, k-rail placement and overhead sign removal. Drivers will be directed to use general purpose lanes and exit or re-enter the 91 Express Lanes at the county line.


  • The eastbound (EB) 91 Express Lanes are anticipated to close as early as 11 p.m., Friday, April 25 to 7 a.m., Saturday, April 26.


  • The westbound (WB) 91 Express Lanes are anticipated to close as early as 11 p.m., Saturday, April 26 to 9:30 a.m., Sunday, April 27.


  • The EB and WB SR-91 Express Lanes are anticipated to close as early as 11 p.m., Friday, May 2 to 7 a.m., Saturday, May 3.

Sound Wall Activities

Starting as early as Wednesday, April 30, crews are expected to demolish the existing sound wall and rebuild a new sound wall along the WB SR-91 on-ramp at Lakeview Avenue to accommodate construction of a new on-ramp from Lakeview directly to southbound (SB) SR-55.


Sound wall work at this location will be ongoing for approximately 12 months.

Vegetation Removal

Vegetation removal at the SR-91/Lakeview Avenue interchange is expected to be complete during the week of April 28.


Work is anticipated to take place during daytime hours behind k-rail.

About the Project

Overview

The SR-91 (SR-57 to SR-55) Improvement Project will improve 6.6 miles of State Route 91 (SR-91) through Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange, Placentia and Yorba Linda. The project will improve mobility throughout the corridor, reduce weaving and merging between ramps, and improve on- and off-ramps. The project will reconstruct the La Palma Avenue, Glassell Street, Tustin Avenue and Lakeview Avenue bridges and interchanges with standard lanes, shoulders and sidewalks in each direction.
