Weekend Closures
55-Hour Closure
In preparation for a new interchange configuration, crews will perform construction activities that will require continuous 55-hour closures starting as early as 9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27 to 4 a.m., Monday, March 2.
Closures:
Westbound (WB) SR-91 straight on-ramp at Lakeview Avenue
One lane of southbound (SB) Lakeview
One lane of northbound (NB) Lakeview
Additional Sunday Night Closures
Along with the 55-hour ramp closure, crews are expected to close the following from as early as 6 p.m., Sunday, March 1 to 4 a.m., Monday, March 2:
Both directions of Lakeview Avenue between Riverdale Avenue and Santa Ana Canyon Road
WB SR-91 off-ramp at Lakeview
Eastbound (EB) SR-91 on-ramp at Lakeview
WB SR-91 straight on-ramp at Lakeview
WB SR-91 loop on-ramp at Lakeview
There will also be reduced lanes on the WB SR-91 freeway from 8 p.m., Sunday, March 1 to 4 a.m., Monday, March 2.

New Temporary Lakeview Configuration Beginning March 2
During the closures above, crews will reconfigure the Lakeview Avenue interchange to prepare for the next stage of construction on Segment 1 of the SR-91 Improvement Project. Motorists will notice a new traffic pattern to access WB SR-91 while crews continue to reconstruct the Lakeview Avenue bridge to accommodate the new ramp connecting directly to SB SR-55.
Starting at 4 a.m., Monday, March 2 motorists traveling both NB and SB on Lakeview Avenue will use a new signalized intersection to access the newly realigned WB SR-91 straight on-ramp, and the WB SR-91 loop on-ramp at Lakeview Avenue will be permanently closed.
Additionally, the eastern side of Lakeview Avenue will be fully closed to pedestrians through August 2026. The western side will be accessible to pedestrians.
New Traffic Pattern:
NB motorists will turn left at the signal to access the on-ramp
SB motorists will turn right at the signal

Upcoming Nightly Directional Freeway Closures for Girder Installation
Crews are anticipated to perform two weekends of nightly directional freeway closures to install girders for the new bridge:
11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, March 6 and Saturday March 7 (into Sunday morning)
EB SR-91 between SR-55 and Lakeview Avenue
EB/WB 91 Express Lanes between SR-55 and County Line
11 p.m. to 7 a.m., Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 (into Sunday morning)
WB SR-91 between Tustin Avenue and Lakeview Avenue
EB/WB 91 Express Lanes between SR-55 and County Line

Falsework Construction for New Bridge
Crews are setting up falsework, or temporary support structures, to prepare for the next phase of construction. In addition, crews are preparing for girder, steel support beams, installation which will occur during the first two consecutive weekends in March.

Crews continue work on a sound wall along the WB SR-91 on-ramp and a retaining wall along the EB SR-91 on-ramp. Daily construction activities will start as early as 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The new walls are anticipated to be complete by mid-2026.

Segment 2: SR-55 to SR-57
Construction on Segment 2 of the SR-91 Improvement Project is expected to begin in mid-2026.
Segment 3: SR-57 Interchange
Construction on Segment 3 of the SR-91 Improvement Project is expected to begin in February 2026, bringing major upgrades to the SR-91/SR-57 interchange and surrounding areas to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and support long-term mobility.
During the week of February 22, crews are scheduled to begin putting up construction signs within the corridor. K-rail placement and clearing and grubbing activities will follow. Additional schedule updates will be shared in upcoming alerts.
NB Lakeview Avenue between Santa Ana Canyon and WB SR-91 Off-Ramp:
Nightly, as early as 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, Feb. 23 through Friday, Feb. 27 (into Saturday morning)
Freeway and Ramp Closures:
Nighttime lane closures on EB and WB SR-91 will occur regularly throughout construction. At least one lane will be open to traffic at all times, unless otherwise specified.

Overview
The SR-91 (SR-57 to SR-55) Improvement Project will improve 6.6 miles of State Route 91 (SR-91) through Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange, Placentia and Yorba Linda. The project will improve mobility throughout the corridor, reduce weaving and merging between ramps, and improve on- and off-ramps. The project will reconstruct the La Palma Avenue, Kraemer Boulevard/Glassell Street, Tustin Avenue and Lakeview Avenue bridges and interchanges with standard lanes, shoulders and sidewalks in each direction.
