WHAT:

TONIGHT, Dec. 19, crews are expected to close westbound (WB) SR-91 from the WB off-ramp at Lakeview Avenue to SR-55, northbound (NB) Lakeview Avenue, and the inside lane of WB Santa Ana Canyon Road, leaving one lane open for motorists.

The full directional closure of WB SR-91 is necessary to restripe lanes and replace crash cushions along this stretch of freeway for safety purposes. The full directional closure of NB Lakeview is closed for bridge work preparation.

The eastbound (EB) and WB SR-91 off-ramps at Lakeview will remain open.

DETOURS:

To Access WB SR-91:

• Exit WB SR-91 Lakeview Avenue, turn right on Lakeview, turn left on La Palma Avenue, travel west and turn left on Tustin Avenue, continue to the WB SR-91 on-ramp.



To Access EB SR-91:

• Travel east on Santa Ana Canyon Road, turn left on Imperial Highway and continue to the EB SR-91 on-ramp.

To Access SB SR-55:

• Exit WB SR-91 Lakeview Avenue, turn left on Lakeview, turn right on Santa Ana Canyon Road, travel west and turn right on Nohl Ranch, turn left on Tustin Avenue, and turn left onto SB SR-55 on-ramp.

Progress at the Lakeview Avenue Bridge

Crews are continuing to pour concrete to form columns and build retaining walls and abutments to support the new Lakeview Avenue bridge. Keep an eye out for even more progress as we continue to construct this major structure!

Along WB 91 On-Ramp at Lakeview

Crews are expected to continue daily work on the sound wall starting as early as 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The new sound wall along the WB SR-91 on-ramp is anticipated to be complete by mid-2026.

Along EB 91 On-Ramp at Lakeview

Crews have been forming and pouring the retaining wall along the EB SR-91 on-ramp. Crews are also making progress preparing the area for the foundation of the new bridge.

Construction on Segment 2 of the SR-91 Improvement Project is expected to begin in 
mid-2026.

Construction on Segment 3 of the SR-91 Improvement Project is expected to begin in early 2026, bringing major upgrades to the SR-91/SR-57 interchange and surrounding areas to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and support long-term mobility.

Freeway and Ramp Closures:

Nighttime lane closures on EB and WB SR-91 will occur regularly throughout construction. At least one lane will be open to traffic at all times, unless otherwise specified.

• The two-year closure started on July 7, 2025

The SR-91 (SR-57 to SR-55) Improvement Project will improve 6.6 miles of State Route 91 (SR-91) through Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange, Placentia and Yorba Linda. The project will improve mobility throughout the corridor, reduce weaving and merging between ramps, and improve on- and off-ramps. The project will reconstruct the La Palma Avenue, Kraemer Boulevard/Glassell Street, Tustin Avenue and Lakeview Avenue bridges and interchanges with standard lanes, shoulders and sidewalks in each direction.
