The previously scheduled two-year closure of the eastbound (EB) SR-91 loop on-ramp from southbound (SB) Lakeview Avenue is expected to begin this summer. More information will be provided.
Freeway and Ramp Closures
Nighttime lane closures on EB and westbound (WB) SR-91 will occur regularly throughout construction. At least one lane will be open to traffic at all times, unless otherwise specified.
91 Express Lanes Closures
The following nighttime closures of the 91 Express Lanes will occur between SR-55/Tustin Avenue and the Orange County/Riverside County line to facilitate striping, k-rail placement and overhead sign replacement. Drivers will be directed to use the regular lanes and exit or re-enter the 91 Express Lanes at the county line.
WB SR-91 Express Lanes are anticipated to close:
As early as 9 p.m., Friday, June 6 to 5 a.m., Saturday, June 7
As early as 9 p.m., Friday, June 13 to 5 a.m., Saturday, June 14
Sound Wall Activities
Crews are constructing a new sound wall along WB SR-91. This work will require the installation of cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles to form the foundation. Work will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays, and is now anticipated to begin in early July.

CIDH piles are deep foundation elements created by drilling a hole into the ground and filling it with reinforced concrete to support large structures. See the infographic below highlighting each step of the CIDH process.

Lakeview Avenue Bridge Update
In preparation to construct the new Lakeview Avenue bridge, crews have begun what is known as a "settlement" period along the WB SR-91 off-ramp. This process helps compact the soil to ensure long-term stability for the new bridge. The large mound of dirt will remain in place for approximately one month while the earth settles.

About the Project
Overview
The SR-91 (SR-57 to SR-55) Improvement Project will improve 6.6 miles of State Route 91 (SR-91) through Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange, Placentia and Yorba Linda. The project will improve mobility throughout the corridor, reduce weaving and merging between ramps, and improve on- and off-ramps. The project will reconstruct the La Palma Avenue, Glassell Street, Tustin Avenue and Lakeview Avenue bridges and interchanges with standard lanes, shoulders and sidewalks in each direction.
