Eastbound SR-91 Loop On-Ramp Closed for Approximately Two Years
The two-year closure of the eastbound (EB) SR-91 loop on-ramp from southbound (SB) Lakeview Avenue began on Monday, July 7.
This closure is required for crews to demolish and reconstruct a retaining wall on EB SR-91 beneath the existing Lakeview bridge and construct an abutment for the new bridge.
Sound Wall Activities
Crews continue construction on a new sound wall along westbound (WB) SR-91. This work will require the installation of cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles to form the foundation. CIDH work began on Monday, July 7 and will continue as early as 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays for approximately five weeks.
Crews demolishing the old sound wall to accommodate the new SB SR-55 direct on-ramp that will be built.
Crews pouring concrete to construct the stems, the main structural support, of the new sound wall.
Crews drilling 16 inch CIDH concrete piles to form the foundation of the new sound wall.
This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.
Freeway and Ramp Closures
Nighttime lane closures on EB and WB SR-91 will occur regularly throughout construction. At least one lane will be open to traffic at all times, unless otherwise specified.

91 Express Lanes Closures
The following nighttime closures of the 91 Express Lanes will occur between SR-55/Tustin Avenue and the Orange County/Riverside County line to facilitate work in the center median of the freeway. Drivers will be directed to use the regular lanes and exit or re-enter the 91 Express Lanes at the county line.
EB SR-91 Express Lanes
Nightly, as early as 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., Friday, July 11 and Saturday July 12 (into Sunday morning) and Friday, July 18 (into Saturday morning)
WB SR-91 Express Lanes
Nightly, as early as 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12 (into Sunday morning) and Friday, July 18 (into Saturday morning)
Construction Updates
In the coming weeks, crews will begin constructing the subterranean foundation for the new Lakeview Avenue bridge. This will include drilling CIDH piles in the area around the WB SR-91 loop on-ramp. Stay tuned for an overview of how the bridge will be constructed while maintaining access to traffic on Lakeview Avenue!
At the end of this month, work will begin in EB SR-91 under the current Lakeview Avenue bridge to construct a retaining wall to support the new bridge structure. Intermittent nightwork will be required for crews to safely perform certain activities.

About the Project
Overview
The SR-91 (SR-57 to SR-55) Improvement Project will improve 6.6 miles of State Route 91 (SR-91) through Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange, Placentia and Yorba Linda. The project will improve mobility throughout the corridor, reduce weaving and merging between ramps, and improve on- and off-ramps. The project will reconstruct the La Palma Avenue, Glassell Street, Tustin Avenue and Lakeview Avenue bridges and interchanges with standard lanes, shoulders and sidewalks in each direction.
