Pile Driving at Lakeview Avenue
Crews completed the first portion of pile driving in the center median of the freeway and will continue during weekdays with the next phase of pile driving along westbound SR-91. Work at the remaining two locations is expected to conclude in early October. Crews may be on the worksite as early as 6 a.m. and are anticipated to perform pile driving activities from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
While pile driving is a critical step in the construction process, it may also be noisy and cause some vibration.
Excavation Activities
Crews are anticipated to excavate the area near the westbound (WB) loop on-ramp. Excavation activities involve removing soil and rocks from the area to prepare for the next phase of pile diving. This work is anticipated to occur nightly and begin as early as 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 22 and Tuesday, Sept. 23 (into Wednesday morning).
This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.
Sound Wall Activities
Crews are expected to continue daily work on the wall as early as 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The new sound wall is anticipated to be complete by mid-2026.

Nighttime lane closures on eastbound (EB) and WB SR-91 will occur regularly throughout construction. At least one lane will be open to traffic at all times, unless otherwise specified.

The SR-91 (SR-57 to SR-55) Improvement Project will improve 6.6 miles of State Route 91 (SR-91) through Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange, Placentia and Yorba Linda. The project will improve mobility throughout the corridor, reduce weaving and merging between ramps, and improve on- and off-ramps. The project will reconstruct the La Palma Avenue, Glassell Street, Tustin Avenue and Lakeview Avenue bridges and interchanges with standard lanes, shoulders and sidewalks in each direction.
