Though concrete's surface may seem inert, it's actually the site of a continuous chemical process. This process, known as carbonation, breaks down atmospheric CO2 as it reacts with concrete binders exposed to the air. In a new paper, MIT researchers investigate the carbon uptake of all pavements in the United States. Click here to read how much CO2 could be sequestered by U.S. pavements due to carbonation.

John Hazy, Drafting, Sidley Precast Group 36 Years of Service
|
This coming October I will have been with Sidley Precast for 36 years in the Drafting and Engineering Department. Back in the day, the projects were hand drawn on the drafting table, MY how things have changed! What hasn’t changed is the technical, artistic and fun aspect of designing precast concrete.
What I like about the job is that it is rewarding, challenging and fast paced. Working within the architect’s vision, we strive to design a more production friendly product and ease of precast erection is our goal.
Using the power of years of drafting and design consistency makes us all more productive. The variety of work we do keeps things fresh and keeps us on our toes. The Sidley Precast Team (I would say) is the best in the business!
