I-5 EL TORO ROAD LANE REDUCTIONS AND

RAMP CLOSURES

Crews will be conducting drainage and paving work at I-5 and El Toro Road requiring

eastbound and westbound nightly lane reductions from Rockfield Boulevard to Avenida De La Carlota, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, April 10 to Friday, April 14. In addition, northbound and southbound I-5 ramps will also be closed nightly. Detours will be in place.


WHEN:

  • Eastbound El Toro Rd., Monday, April 10, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Westbound El Toro Rd., nightly, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, April 10 to Friday, April 14



WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Nightly lane reductions on El Toro Rd. between Rockfield Blvd. to Ave. De La Carlota
  • Nightly ramp closures from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., northbound off-ramp and loop on-ramp, and the southbound loop and direct on-ramp
  • Signage will be in place to assist motorists with detours

PILE DRIVING SCHEDULED

SOUTHBOUND I-5 ADJACENT TO

 AVENIDA DE LA CARLOTA

Crews are performing pile driving work along southbound I-5 adjacent to Avenida De La Carlota as of Friday, April 7. Crews will be constructing the new concrete barrier and retaining wall along southbound I-5 at the Los Alisos bridge. 



WHEN:

  • Pile driving began on Friday, April 7, and will continue for up to three weeks.
  • Work is scheduled weekdays, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Construction noise
  • A total of 95 piles are needed at the location

AVERY PARKWAY CLOSURE

Avery Parkway at I-5 is scheduled to be closed nightly, beginning April 17 for up to three nights, so crews can safely and efficiently deliver precast concrete girders. Nighttime southbound I-5 Avery Pkwy. off-and on-ramps will also be closed as part of this activity, along with mainline lane reductions.


The girders are a structural component of the I-5 improvements at Avery Pkwy. and are roughly 82' long and weigh almost 68,000 lbs. Because of the size and weight, a specialized crane will be used to place the girders.


WHEN:

• Nightly, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday, April 17, for up to three nights.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

• Nighttime full closure of Avery Pkwy. under I-5 with no through access

• Nightly southbound I-5 Avery Pkwy. off-and on-ramp closures

• Nightly lane reductions on southbound I-5 at Avery Pkwy.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.
