CLOSURES TO KNOW, BEFORE YOU HIT THE ROAD

VIEW CLOSURE MAP

I-5 Nightly Lane, Ramp Closures and Weekend Closure of SB Alicia Parkway On-Ramps

Motorists traveling on the I-5 northbound and southbound will notice nighttime lane closures throughout the week. Nighttime ramp closures are also scheduled at Avery Parkway, Crown Valley Parkway, Oso Parkway, Alicia Parkway and El Toro Road. 


WHEN:

  • Aug. 14 - 19


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Nightly NB I-5 lane closures/reductions from Crown Valley Parkway to Oso Parkway and from Alicia Parkway to El Toro Road starting as early as 8 p.m. 
  • Nightly SB I-5 lane closures/reductions from Oso Parkway to SR 73 and from El Toro Road to Alicia Parkway starting as early as 10 p.m.
  • Nightly ramp closures throughout the project corridor, starting as early as 10 p.m.


In addition, a weekend 55-hour closure of the SB Alicia Parkway on-ramps is expected this weekend.


WHEN:

  • Aug. 18 - 21


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • 55-hour full closure of the SB Alicia Parkway on-ramps (both loop and straight) starting as early as 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday



Detour signs will be in place to assist motorists. Plan for additional travel time overnight this week.


The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Project Milestone - Avery Parkway


Paving will be completed for Avery Parkway on- and off-ramps this week.

Traffic shift for NB Oso Parkway Off-Ramp


Beginning Friday, 8/18, traffic on the NB Oso Parkway off-ramp will shift toward the wall near the Mission Country Club golf course. Crews will work overnight Thursday to move K-rails to enable this shift. 

Extended closure of NB Alicia Parkway Straight On-Ramp next week

Beginning on Aug. 21, crews are expected to close the NB Alicia Pkwy straight on-ramp for nine days. This closure will continue through Tuesday, Aug. 29.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.

OCTA and Caltrans are working together to improve freeway capacity and operations on a 6.5-mile stretch of I-5 from SR-73 to El Toro Road in south Orange County. This voter-approved $580-million project will:
