Nine-day closure of Alicia Pkwy NB straight on-ramp expected Tuesday night

In addition to nighttime lane closures on the I-5 northbound and southbound, motorists will notice an extended full closure of the Alicia Pkwy NB straight on-ramp beginning Tuesday night. The closure will be in effect until next Thursday (8/31) morning at 5 a.m. Motorists will be able to access the freeway via detour at the NB El Toro Road on-ramp.



Work on the Alicia on-ramp includes reconstruction of the ramp. Crews will excavate the ramp bed and rebuild the ramp in layers. Once the ramp reopens, it will be in its final configuration.


Freeway lane closures will be in both directions on the I-5 between Crown Valley and Oso Parkways and Alicia Parkwy and El Toro Road nightly, Monday-Friday.

WHAT TO EXPECT:


  • NB I-5 and SB I-5 lane closures/reductions from Crown Valley Parkway to Oso Parkway and Alicia Parkway to El Toro Road nightly this week starting at 8 p.m. 
  • Nightly ramp closures at Oso Pkwy and Alicia Parkway starting at 10 p.m.
  • Extended full closure of the Alicia Pkwy NB straight on-ramp 8/23-8/31, ending at 5 a.m.


Signs will be in place to assist motorists. Plan for additional travel time overnight this week. As always, the schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Tropical Storm Hilary impacts La Paz Road on-ramp


Weekend rains from Tropical Storm Hilary caused a sinkhole along the right side of the La Paz Road SB straight on-ramp. As a precaution, crews temporarily closed the ramp Monday to make repairs. The outreach team regrets any inconvenience as crews responded quickly to address this safety issue.

Weekend 55-hour closure planned for SB Avery Pkwy on and off-ramps next month

Beginning in mid-September, crews expect to close the SB Avery on an off-ramps during a 55-hour weekend closure. More information will be shared as we get closer to the closure date.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.
