Lane Closures/Reductions Expected for Northbound and Southbound I-5

Motorists traveling the I-5 northbound and southbound will notice nighttime lane closures and reductions throughout the week. Nighttime ramp closures will also occur at La Paz Road and Alicia Parkway.

Signs will be in place to assist motorists. Plan for additional travel time overnight.

WHEN:

August 7-11

WHAT TO EXPECT:

NB I-5 lane closures/reductions from Alicia Parkway to El Toro Road nightly this week from 8 p.m.-6 a.m.

SB I-5 nightly lane closures/reductions from El Toro Road to Oso Parkway.

Nightly ramp closures at La Paz Road and Alicia Parkway from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.

OCTA and Caltrans are working together to improve freeway capacity and operations on a 6.5-mile stretch of I-5 from SR-73 to El Toro Road in south Orange County. This voter-approved $580-million project will:
