LANE REDUCTIONS AT EL TORO ROAD FOR BRIDGE WORK

Crews will continue bridge work requiring nightly lane reductions this week at El Toro Rd. between Rockfield Blvd. and Ave. De La Carlota. Please follow detour signage.


WHEN:

  • Nightly, Monday, Dec. 12 through Friday, Dec. 16, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Westbound and eastbound lane reductions between Rockfield Blvd. and Ave. De La Carlota
  • Detour signage will be in place to assist motorists

WHAT'S AHEAD AT AVERY PARKWAY

Crews will begin piling driving for the final stage of Avery Pkwy. bridge during daytime hours, with work continuing up to the next six weeks.


Pile driving is a common method of constructing structure foundations. To support the structure, steel or concrete beams or "piles" are driven into the soil until reaching a hard layer of earth beneath the structure foundation. Pile driving is necessary for the bridge work as part of the I-5 South County Improvements Project. 




WHEN:

  • Daily from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., beginning as early as Monday, Dec. 12, for approximately six weeks



WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Construction noise is expected
  • Work will be performed behind k-rail, closures are not required
  • Crews will pour footings and place concrete girders in Spring 2023


The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operations issues.

ELECTRICAL WORK UNDERWAY AT

LOS ALISOS BOULEVARD BRIDGE

Southern California Edison (SCE) crews will perform nighttime electrical vault work on Los Alisos Blvd. There will be full closures of Los Alisos Blvd. bridge.


WHEN:

  • Nightly, Monday, Dec. 12 through Thursday, Dec. 15, from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Nightly, Sunday, Dec. 18 through Thursday, Dec. 22, from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Westbound and eastbound lane closures
  • Detour signage will be in place to assist motorists
  • SCE crews performing work


UPCOMING NIGHTTIME FULL CLOSURES

ON LA PAZ ROAD AT I-5

Crews will continue bridge work on La Paz Rd. requiring full closures from Muirlands Boulevard to Cabot Road.


WHEN:

Nightly, Monday, Dec. 19 through Thursday, Dec. 22, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Westbound and eastbound lane closures
  • Southbound I-5 loop on-ramp and northbound I-5 loop on-ramp closures
  • Detour signage will be in place to assist motorists


For the safety of the traveling public and construction crews, the speed limit throughout the I-5 South County construction zone remains reduced to 55 mph.

 

The speed limit will be strictly enforced and traffic fines may be doubled within the construction zone.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.
