UPCOMING I-5 FREEWAY CLOSURES FOR LOS ALISOS BRIDGE GIRDER PLACEMENTS

Crews are preparing for upcoming delivery and placement of pre-cast girders for the Los Alisos bridge, Aug. 2-3. This activity will require directional I-5 freeway closures nightly between El Toro Road and Alicia Parkway, as well closures at Los Alisos Boulevard between Avenida de la Carlota and Rockfield Boulevard.


The precast girders will be placed as the primary support deck being constructed for the expansion of the Los Alisos bridge.

WHEN:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 2 and Wednesday, Aug. 3, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Southbound I-5 freeway closure, Aug. 2
  • Northbound I-5 freeway closure, Aug. 3
  • Nightly closure of Los Alisos Boulevard, (Carlota - Rockfield Blvd.)
  • Electronic message boards
  • Detour signage will be in place to assist motorists

CROWN VALLEY PARKWAY

Crown Valley Parkway northbound off-ramp and northbound loop on-ramp will have a full closure next weekend from 11 p.m. Friday, August 5, to 6 a.m. Monday, August 8. There will also be a lane reduction on eastbound Crown Valley. Reminders of this closure will be activated on electronic message boards starting on Friday, July 29, 2022.


Crews will be conducting electrical work, roadway excavation, irrigation work, paving, striping and k-rail placement. Please follow detour signage for alternate routes.


WHEN:

  • 11 p.m., Friday, August 5, to 6 a.m., Monday, August 8.


WHAT TO EXPECT:


  • Northbound I-5 Crown Valley off-ramp closure
  • Northbound I-5 Crown Valley loop on-ramp closure
  • Eastbound lane reductions on Crown Valley
  • Watch for detour signage
  • Plan for additional travel time through the area

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.
