NINE-DAY EXTENDED CLOSURE

SOUTHBOUND I-5 EL TORO ROAD ON-RAMP

Crews have temporarily closed the southbound I-5 El Toro Rd. straight on-ramp for excavation, paving and restriping work through June 26. Signs will be in place to assist motorists with detours.


WHEN:

  • 11 p.m. Friday, June 16 to 5 a.m. Monday, June 26



WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Nine-day closure of southbound I-5 El Toro Rd. on-ramp
  • On-ramp will reopen 5 a.m. Monday, June 26
  • Crews excavating, paving and restriping
  • Lane reductions on southbound I-5 between El Toro Rd. and Alicia Pkwy.
  • Signage will be in place to assist motorists
  • Plan for additional travel time through the area
  • Additional nightly ramp closures may be required
  • View the project closure chart for a list of all nightly closures

NIGHTLY LANE AND RAMP CLOSURES

AT EL TORO ROAD

Crews will be conducting roadway work at El Toro Rd. and the I-5 requiring nightly lane closures between Rockfield Blvd. and Ave. De La Carlota. Northbound I-5 on-and off-ramps will also be closed nightly. Detours will be in place to assist motorists.


WHEN:

  • Nightly, June 19-23, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.



WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Lane closures on El Toro Rd. between Rockfield Blvd. and Ave. De La Carlota
  • Nightly ramp closures at El Toro Rd.
  • Signage will be in place to assist motorists

The construction crews are making great progress on the I-5 South County Improvements project and important closures and activities are up ahead.



Southbound I-5 Avery Pkwy. off-ramp paving work underway and the ramp should be completed by the end of summer. Crews will also begin work on the new Avery Pkwy. eastbound lanes.

Paving operations will take this summer at northbound I-5 Crown Valley Pkwy. off-ramp.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.

OCTA and Caltrans are working together to improve freeway capacity and operations on a 6.5-mile stretch of I-5 from SR-73 to El Toro Road in south Orange County. This voter-approved $580-million project will:
