WEEKDAY EXTENDED CLOSURE

SOUTHBOUND I-5 AT OSO PARKWAY ON-RAMP

The southbound I-5 Oso Pkwy. loop on-ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, to 5 a.m. Thursday, June 8. Throughout this extended closure, electronic message boards and detour signs will guide motorists to the southbound on-ramp at Crown Valley Pkwy. This extended closure is required for two reasons: 1) so that crews can switch traffic onto the newly paved half of the loop on-ramp; and 2) to begin Stage 2 of ramp reconstruction.


WHEN:

  • 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, to 5 a.m. Thursday, June 8



WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Southbound I-5 Oso Pkwy. loop on-ramp closed. Ramps will reopen 5 a.m. Thursday, June 8
  • Motorists will be detoured to Crown Valley Pkwy. on-ramp
  • Electronic boards and detour signs will be in place will guide motorists.
  • Plan for additional travel time through the area.
  • Traffic shift onto new ramp pavement will occur on Friday, June 9

NINE-DAY EXTENDED CLOSURE

SOUTHBOUND I-5 EL TORO ROAD ON-RAMP

Crews will be closing the southbound I-5 El Toro Rd. straight on-ramp for excavation, paving and restriping work June 16-26. Signs will be in place to assist motorists with detours.


WHEN:

  • 11 p.m. Friday, June 16 to 5 a.m. Monday, June 26



WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Nine-day closure of southbound I-5 El Toro Rd. on-ramp
  • Starts 11 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023
  • Crews excavating, paving and restriping
  • Motorists should use southbound I-5 El Toro Rd. on-ramp at Paseo de Valencia (Nightly, Friday, June 16 - Sunday, June 18 motorists will be detoured to Lake Forest Dr. or Alicia Pkwy.)
  • Friday, June 16 all ramps at El Toro Rd. will be closed
  • Signage will be in place to assist motorists
  • Plan for additional travel time through the area


The construction crews are making great progress on the I-5 South County Improvements project and important closures and activities are up ahead.



Southbound I-5 Avery Pkwy. off-ramp paving work underway and the ramp should be completed by the end of summer. Crews will also begin work on the new Avery Pkwy. eastbound lanes.

Paving operations will take this summer at northbound I-5 Crown Valley Pkwy. off-ramp.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.
