Project Milestone!

Crews completed placement of 24 girders for the Avery Parkway bridge construction over a two-night operation last week. The girders are a structural component of the I-5 widening at Avery Parkway and are roughly 82' long and weigh almost 68,000 lbs. Because of the size and weight, a specialized crane was used to place the girders.

Nightly ramp closures will occur this week at I-5 and Alicia Parkway, for bridge and roadway excavation work. Please look for detour signage and slow your speed in the construction area. 


WHEN:

  • 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly, Monday, June 6 through Friday, June 10


WHAT TO EXPECT: 

  • Northbound Alicia Pkwy. loop on-ramp nightly closures
  • Northbound Alicia Pkwy. direct on-ramp nightly closures
  • Southbound direct on-ramp nightly closures
  • Signage will be in place to assist motorists with detours

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.
