WEEKEND RAMP FULL CLOSURE

EL TORO ROAD AT I-5

Ramp closures will occur at El Toro Rd. to allow crews to perform paving work at the northbound I-5 El Toro Rd. off-ramp. Detours will be in place. Download the flyer with map and detailed information.


WHEN:

  • 11 p.m. Friday, March 17, to 5 a.m. Monday, March 20



WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Northbound I-5 off-ramp closed at El Toro Rd.
  • Ramp will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, March 20
  • Lane reductions on northbound I-5 between Alicia Pkwy. and El Toro Rd.
  • Signage will be in place to assist motorists with detours
  • Motorists should use Alicia Pkwy. or Lake Forest Dr. as detours

PILE DRIVING SCHEDULED

SOUTHBOUND I-5 ADJACENT TO

 AVENIDA DE LA CARLOTA

Crews will be performing pile driving work along southbound I-5 adjacent to Avenida De La Carlota. Equipment will be placed in the area as early as Friday, March 17, in preparation for the pile driving. Crews will be constructing the new concrete barrier and retaining wall along southbound I-5 at the Los Alisos bridge. Download the flyer with map and detailed information.


WHEN:

  • Pile driving will begin as early as Monday, March 20, for up to three weeks.
  • Work is scheduled weekdays, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Construction noise
  • A total of 95 piles are needed at the location

UPCOMING FULL CLOSURE AVERY PARKWAY

Avery Parkway at I-5 is scheduled to be closed nightly, March 22 and 23 so crews can safely and efficiently deliver precast concrete girders. Nighttime lane reductions will also be in place on Avery Pkwy. Friday, March 24.


The girders are a structural component of the

I-5 improvements at Avery Parkway and are roughly 82' long and weigh almost 68,000 lbs. Because of the size and weight, a specialized crane will be used to place the girders.


WHEN:

  • Nightly, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting as early as Wednesday, March 22, for up to three nights.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Nighttime full closure of Avery Pkwy. under I-5 with no through access on Wednesday, March 22 and Thursday, March 23
  • Nightly lane reductions on Avery Pkwy. at I-5 on Friday, March 24
  • Nightly lane reductions on southbound I-5 at Avery Pkwy. Wednesday, March 22 through Friday, March 24

This week, we spotlight Helen Schultz. Known as the “Iowa Bus Queen”, Helen established the Red Ball Transportation Company, providing city-to-city transportation by bus.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.
