WEEKEND RAMP FULL CLOSURE

EL TORO ROAD AT I-5

Ramp closures will occur at El Toro Rd. to allow crews to perform paving work at the northbound I-5 El Toro Rd. off-ramp. Detours will be in place. Download the flyer with map and detailed information.


WHEN:

  • 11 p.m. Friday, March 10 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 13



WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Northbound I-5 off-ramp closed at El Toro Rd.
  • Ramp will reopen at 5 a.m., Monday, March 13
  • Lane reductions on northbound I-5 between Alicia Pkwy. and El Toro Rd.
  • Signage will be in place to assist motorists with detours
  • Motorists should use Alicia Pkwy. or Lake Forest Dr. as detours

NIGHTLY LANE REDUCTIONS AND RAMP CLOSURES AT LA PAZ ROAD

Watch for nightly lane reductions on La Paz Rd. between Muirlands Blvd. and Cabot Rd. as crews complete roadway and excavation work. In addition, the southbound I-5 off-ramp at La Paz Rd. is closed nightly for excavation work. Please follow detour signage. 


WHEN:

  • Nightly, Monday, March 6 through Friday, March 10, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Westbound and eastbound lane reductions on La Paz Rd. between Muirlands Blvd. and Cabot Rd.
  • Southbound I-5 off-ramp closed nightly
  • Detour signage will be in place to assist motorists

PILE DRIVING SCHEDULED

SOUTHBOUND I-5 ADJACENT TO

 AVENIDA DE LA CARLOTA

Crews will be performing pile driving work along southbound I-5 adjacent to Avenida De La Carlota. Equipment will be placed in the area as early as Tuesday, March 14, in preparation for the pile driving. Crews will be constructing the new concrete barrier and retaining wall along southbound I-5 at the Los Alisos bridge. Download the flyer with map and detailed information.


WHEN:

  • Pile driving will begin as early as Wednesday, March 15, for up to three weeks.
  • Work is scheduled weekdays, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Construction noise
  • A total of 95 piles are needed at the location

WOMEN IN TRANSPORTATION MONTH

During the month of March, the I-5 South County team celebrates Women in Transportation and the significant impact they've made in this industry. Follow along as the project team shares stories featuring individuals who left a lasting impression.


First up is Marilyn Jorgenson Reece, the first female engineer for California’s Division of Highways (now Caltrans HQ). In 1965 she designed the I-10/405 interchange (now named after her), and later worked on construction of the I-605 Freeway, the I-210 extension, and the I-105 Century Freeway.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.
