LA PAZ ROAD NIGHTLY CLOSURES

Nighttime Full Closure of La Paz Rd. at I-5

Crews are finishing demolition of the I-5 bridge over La Paz Road. This work requires nightly full closures of La Paz between Muirlands Blvd. and Cabot Rd. from Monday, May 8, to Friday, May 12, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. In addition, the northbound loop on-ramp and southbound loop on-ramp will be closed.


WHEN:

Nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, May 8, through Friday, May 12.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Nightly closures of La Paz at I-5
  • Northbound and southbound loop on-ramps closed nightly
  • Signs will be in place to assist motorists with detours
  • Plan for additional travel time through the area

AVERY PARKWAY NIGHTLY FULL CLOSURES AND LANE REDUCTIONS

Nighttime Full Closure and Lane Reductions of Avery Pkwy. at I-5

Crews are conducting bridge work on the I-5 bridge over Avery Pkwy. The work requires nightly full closures and lane reductions on Avery between Camino Capistrano and Marguerite Pkwy. from Monday, May 8, to Friday, May 12, starting as early as 9 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m.


WHEN:

  • Nightly full closures, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, May 8, Tuesday, May 9, and Friday, May 12.
  • Nightly lane reductions, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 11.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Nightly closures and/or lane reductions of Avery Pkwy. at I-5
  • Signs will be in place to assist motorists with detours
  • Plan for additional travel time through the area  


The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues. 

LOS ALISOS BOULEVARD

TRAFFIC SHIFT COMPLETE

Project Milestone

The traffic shift along Los Alisos Blvd. is complete and motorists have access to the newly paved roadway. Crews conducted final profilograph testing to confirm the smoothness of the bridge deck and approach slabs to ensure the roadway meets Caltrans rideability requirements.


Please note: Bike lanes in both directions will be closed for approximately 12 months during the bridge reconstruction. Bicyclists will be detoured to the Aliso Creek Bikeway under the freeway.  



UPCOMING FULL CLOSURE I-5 -

LOS ALISOS BRIDGE DEMOLITION

Crews are expected to begin Stage 2 demolition of the Los Alisos bridge, requiring closure of I-5 in both directions between El Toro Rd. and Alicia Pkwy. Demolition is anticipated as early as Saturday, May 20, from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m.


Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.


The work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.



The demolition of the bridge is required for the freeway improvements. The new Los Alisos bridge is being built in two stages, allowing it to remain open to traffic during construction. Construction activity is anticipated to take approximately 12 months.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.
