EXTENDED RAMP CLOSURE

Extended closure of I-5 northbound straight on-ramp from El Toro Road

WHAT:

The I-5 El Toro Road northbound straight on-ramp will be closed for roadway reconstruction starting Oct. 23.

The ramp will be closed for nine days.

WHEN:

I-5 El Toro Road northbound straight on-ramp closed

10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23 - 5 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1

Plan for additional travel time through the area.

Detour signs will be in place to assist motorists.

The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

SR-73 to Crown Valley Parkway starting as early as 8 p.m.
La Paz Road to Alicia Parkway starting as early as 8 p.m.
Alicia Parkway to El Toro Road starting as early as 8 p.m.

SOUTHBOUND I-5

Nightly lane reductions/closures from:

El Toro Road to Alicia Parkway starting as early as 8 p.m.
Crown Valley Parkway to SR-73 starting as early as 8 p.m.

WHAT TO EXPECT: I-5 RAMP CLOSURES

RAMP CLOSURES

Daytime ramp closures for pile driving at:

Crown Valley Parkway from Oct. 17 - Oct. 20, starting at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nightly ramp closures at:

Avery Parkway, Crown Valley Parkway, Oso Parkway, Alicia Parkway and El Toro Road starting as early as 10 p.m.

UPCOMING STREET CLOSURE

Full local street closure at:

La Paz Road on Oct. 20, starting at 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Safe and direct detours will be in place.

WHAT'S DOWN THE ROAD

Future Activities Up Ahead

Late October - Early November, we're expecting significant work on the northern end of the project starting at the end of the month and continuing through the end of 2023.

Multiple ramps at the I-5 El Toro Road Interchange will close for extended periods starting Oct. 23.

Additionally, the I-5 Alicia Parkway interchange will have a weekend ramp closure starting the first week of November.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.

OCTA and Caltrans are working together to improve freeway capacity and operations on a 6.5-mile stretch of I-5 from SR-73 to El Toro Road in south Orange County. This voter-approved $580-million project will:
