UPCOMING CLOSURES THIS WEEK

Oct. 9 - Oct. 15, expect overnight freeway lane reductions and closures, ramp closures and street closures.

Plan for additional travel time through the area.

WHAT TO EXPECT: I-5 LANE REDUCTIONS/CLOSURES

NORTHBOUND I-5

Nightly lane reductions/closures from:

Crown Valley Parkway to Oso Parkway starting as early as 8 p.m.
Oso Parkway to Alicia Parkway starting as early as 8 p.m.
Alicia Parkway to El Toro Road as early as 8 p.m.

SOUTHBOUND I-5

Nightly lane reductions/closures from:

El Toro Road to Alicia Parkway starting as early as 8 p.m.
Oso Parkway to SR-73 starting as early as 8 p.m.

WHAT TO EXPECT: I-5 RAMP CLOSURES

RAMP CLOSURES

Nightly ramp closures at:

Avery Parkway, Crown Valley Parkway, Oso Parkway, Alicia Parkway and El Toro Road starting as early as 10 p.m.

Safe and direct detours will be in place.

The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

PILE DRIVING CONTINUED

Potential Daytime Closure of

Crown Valley Parkway On-Ramp

WHAT:

Crews are nearing completion on retaining walls along northbound I-5 near Crown Valley Parkway and the Kaleidoscope shopping center.

The final round of pile driving for the retaining walls began last week.

This work is anticipated to continue the day for several weeks.

Prepare for noise and vibration in the area.

WHEN:

Pile driving expected to continue through Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Note: This activity may require daytime closures of the Crown Valley Parkway straight on-ramp to NB I-5.

The potential closures are scheduled for:

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, and Friday, Oct. 13.

The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

WHAT'S DOWN THE ROAD

Future Activities Up Ahead

Late October - Early November, we're expecting significant work on the northern end of the project starting at the end of the month and continuing through the end of 2023.

Multiple ramps at the I-5 El Toro Road Interchange will close for extended periods starting Oct. 23.

Additionally, the I-5 Alicia Parkway interchange will have a weekend ramp closure starting the first week of November.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project, which spans the cities of Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel, is expected to be completed in 2025.

OCTA and Caltrans are working together to improve freeway capacity and operations on a 6.5-mile stretch of I-5 from SR-73 to El Toro Road in south Orange County. This voter-approved $580-million project will:
