OC I-5 SOUTH COUNTY

IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT PROGESS

Oso Parkway Batch Plant Demobilization

Great news! The mobile concrete batch plant at the northbound I-5 Oso Parkway off-ramp is now dismantled and concrete production at this plant is complete.

Use of the mobile concrete recycling batch plant limited the need to rely on off-site concrete production and allowed the project to recycle material that would have been sent to the landfill. The operations reduced emissions from thousands of concrete trucks on the road and recycled 18,000 tons of debris into high quality concrete.

The concrete produced at the batch plant was used to pave new freeway lanes and bridges throughout the project. Great work by the crews to find options for recycling materials!

Alicia Parkway Paving Preparations

Crews recently laid the rebar framing cages prior to the final step of paving near the southbound Alicia Parkway off-ramp. The rebar framing cages are placed on top of the base between sections of concrete and the final concrete pour. The cages are designed to provide a smoother road experience for motorists and allow for less road vibration. Off to the right, you will also see the Aliso Creek Bikeway and Aliso Creek Riding and Hiking Trail which opened last week!

The project will continue to keep you updated on progress at Alicia Parkway, and throughout the entire project, as milestones occur.

ON-AND OFF-RAMP CLOSURES

Nightly ramp closures will occur this week at I-5 and Oso ParkwayAlicia Parkway,  and El Toro Road on-and off-ramps.

Please watch for detour signage and reduce your speed in the construction area.
