Construction Update
Chelsea-Thetford STP 2955(1)

[VT Route 113 Resurfacing Project]
DATE: Friday, June 25, 2021

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION: Monday, June 28 through Friday, July 2, between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM, motorists should expect lane closures with alternating one-way traffic on VT-113 between Chelsea and Thetford.

Construction vehicles will be pulling into the lane closures. Please give these vehicles plenty of space and “DO NOT FOLLOW” them into the lane closures.

Motorists are encouraged to exercise extra caution while traveling through the work zone.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Next week, crews will continue installing underdrain in Vershire.

Another crew will continue temporarily removing the guardrail to allow space for equipment to reclaim and grade the roadway. Orange barrels will be used in place of the guardrail to delineate shoulder drop-offs. Guardrail will be reinstalled further off the road only in locations that pose a significant hazard.

Pavement milling will begin on Monday, June 28 and will continue through the week. The milling will remove several inches of the existing pavement and the material will be stockpiled near the project to later be used as a recycled pavement base layer. Motorists should use caution and anticipate a grooved surface.
LOCATION: Beginning on VT Route 113 at the intersection with VT Route 110 in the Town of Chelsea, extending easterly for 14.824 miles, through the Towns of Vershire and West Fairlee, to the intersection with VT Route 244 in the Town of Thetford.
