GCEP Project Update

Greetings!

Thank you for opting in to receive regular email updates on the Greater Cambridge Energy Program (GCEP). Please see below for the latest updates on construction activities in your area.

Pre-Construction Activities to Resume in Somerville and Boston

As GCEP continues significant progress in Cambridge with ongoing installation of underground vaults and duct bank, the Project is preparing to resume more exploratory field work in Somerville and Boston.

Anticipated to begin as early as this April, GCEP crews will conduct a series of exploratory field tests, or test pits, to identify the location of underground utilities and characterize soil conditions. Test pit excavations are part of the Project's engineering efforts to better determine a pathway for GCEP's new underground infrastructure.

Work is expected to occur during daytime hours, utilizing lane restrictions and alternating traffic patterns. Additional details regarding test pit locations can be found in the respective construction update section below.
