Celebrating Earth Day the Right Way: Volunteers Keeping our Riverbanks Clean!

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Eversource is proud to partner with the Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA) to help clean and restore riverbanks in the community. Last year, our volunteers made a meaningful impact — removing more than 50 bags of trash, six tires, and even a refrigerator door from local riverbeds. Now in its 27th year, the Charles River Earth Day Clean-Up brings together more than 3,000 volunteers to remove litter and invasive species along 80 miles of the Charles River — protecting an important natural resource in our communities.

CRWA plays a vital role in protecting this treasured urban river for everyone to enjoy. Through community partnerships across the 308-square-mile Charles River Watershed, the work of the CRWA benefits about 1 million residents in 35 cities and towns, and we’re honored to support these efforts with both volunteers and a charitable grant.

We are privileged to partner with a community organization aligned with our commitment to sustainability that is making a big impact on river restoration and climate resilience. We hope you’ll visit the Charles River this spring and enjoy all it has to offer.
