My friends in Christ,
Over the last few weeks you have seen the contractors move from one side of the building to the next as they continue to work to remove the limestone for reuse in the new Hyland Center. They have been working hard on the inside of the building as well - salvaging parts of the gym floor plank by plank!
We are wrapping up this stage of the demolition and following Memorial Day, you'll see more equipment and fast changes as the old Hyland Center is completely demolished.
On Tuesday, May 29th, the remainder of the black top will be enclosed in the construction fence. Pedestrian access along the sidewalk will remain available, but the playground and entire parking lot will be closed.
I invite you to attend one of our Demolition Viewing Parties as we say our final
farewell to the old Hyland Center. We will have refreshments, views of the wrecking ball and demolition, and images of the new Hyland Center available.
- Thursday, May 31st from 7:30 - 9:30 AM in Conference Room 1 & 2
- Monday, June 4th from 5:30 - 7:30 PM in Kenny Hall
In addition, I am pleased to share that we have received a challenge grant of $500,000 from the Lettie Pate Evans Foundation. In order to receive this gift, we need to reach our fundraising goal of $30 million by December 1st. Gifts of all sizes are welcomed and encouraged.
God put us in this time and place so we can Continue His Mission and I am grateful to those in our Christ the King family who have generously responded to that call.
This is an exciting time of growth and I look forward to the positive impact the new Hyland Center will have on the spiritual, pastoral, and educational needs of our parish.
I will continue to keep you updated of the progress of the construction. If you have any questions regarding the construction plans, please email
Yours in Christ,
