Fundraising Update ~ October 28, 2025

Dear Friend,

We welcome the change of seasons as summer’s vibrant colors fade into autumn's earthy shades. Lake County’s high-country pine forests and lower elevation oak meadows offer a canvas for nature to paint its ever-changing beauty. Along with the deer, quail, and other wildlife, we've begun preparing for the cool winter weather.

Construction work continues on the Restaurant and the Walnut and Azalea Hotel buildings as the rainy season quickly approaches. We're pleased to share that the kitchen in the Harbin Restaurant is now installed, and it's described as a "culinary palace" by our Food Services staff who have been providing delicious meals from cramped food trucks for many years.

The ceiling in the restaurant is also complete. The interior wall is decorated with gorgeous wood rounds reclaimed from the fire in a display of artistic beauty. And, long-time beloved Harbin artist, Mark "Bubblemeister" Nichols, created a beautiful metalwork railing which will soon be installed.

The Hotel buildings are also progressing beautifully. The overhang on the roofs of Walnut and Azalea are finished. The 3-story wrap-around porches are now being constructed. It's an impressive sight to view as you walk up the hill towards the pools.

We have achieved so much together thanks to your help. The progress is a testament to the love and dedication of our donors. Yet, as we are near the finish line, we are asking again for donations. As you may know, construction costs increased substantially this year, far above our original budgeted plans.

Donations of any size are very meaningful at this time. We humbly ask that you consider a recurring donation on a weekly or monthly basis. And perhaps you could forward this email to friends and family who may also be interested in supporting this ten-year rebuilding project. Together, we can make this happen!

Resident Reunion

We gathered at the Pavilion for a ten-year anniversary reunion of the Valley Fire with a ceremony for the Harbin Residents who worked here during the time of the fire. We laughed and we cried together – emotions running the gamut, seeing old friends and remembering old times. Our Founder, Ishvara attended the reunion and our gratitude to him was heartfelt.

The Reunion was a touching afternoon of sharing, with warmth and humor to blunt the pain a bit. We collectively acknowledged the safe evacuation of guests on that fateful day in 2015 and we empathetically shared lessons we've each learned from our post-fire experiences.

Even after a decade, so many beloved people continue to have a deep relationship with this land and each other. These bonds are strong near and far, as each of us continues to practice Heart Consciousness from wherever we are.

2025 is Heart Consciousness Church's 50th Anniversary and our organization's mission continues. Please help so future generations can fully experience, embody, practice and share the Oneness that we all are. Now, more than ever, our world needs Heart Consciousness.
