PAVING FOR PROGRESS
42nd Street Improvements

Construction Update: 4-22-16

The dry weather in the last few weeks has allowed construction to continue smoothly on 42nd Street. Crews recently completed all underground work from east of the Northwood Dr intersection to I-380, including: water main, storm sewer, and subdrain.

Work began last week on the median at the southbound I-380 off ramp and pavement removals on the south side of the street near the I-380 ramps began this week.

Paving of the right turn lane and median at the I-380 on ramp is expected to begin next week. Crews are also expected to begin removing pavement on the north side of the street from Northwood Dr to I-380 and prepare for street and driveway paving in the coming weeks. This work will be phased to maintain resident access their driveways as much as possible. On street parking will be provided for residents without access to their driveways.

The construction of the retaining wall on the north side of 42nd Street from Wenig Rd to Meadow Ln will begin this week and is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.

As a reminder, the construction of this wall could cause traffic to be reduced to westbound only between Wenig Rd to east of Meadow Ln.

This would only occur during school hours. and 42nd Street between Wenig Rd and Meadow Ln will be open to two way traffic at the beginning and end of the school day.
