The C Avenue project started on March 27 and has been moving along nicely. The project includes street replacement, storm sewer improvements, water main replacement, on-street bike lanes, and sidewalk (sidewalk installation from 40th Street to Nilsen Road), and is scheduled for completion this fall.
Currently, crews are working on the underground utilities (sewer and water main) and replacing brick manholes with concrete manholes between 42nd Street and Nilsen Road. This activity will continue for the next few weeks. The road closure in effect now will help ensure that work can move as quickly as possible.
During the next few weeks, driveways may be temporarily blocked while crews remove pavement and replace storm sewer lines. They will work to minimize these disruptions as much as possible. Water service may also be temporarily disrupted while crews transfer your old water main service to the new one.
Please continue to place your garbage and recycling containers in their usual spots in front of your property. The contractor is responsible for getting the collection containers to a location the trucks can access, and then returning them to your property.
Periodic updates will be ongoing as the project continues. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to improve our streets!
